Skilled Independent Visa
Overview
The skilled independent visa is a permanent work visa for skilled workers from overseas who meet the required points on the General Skilled Migration Points Test.
Applicants for this Australian skilled visa are required to have qualifications in nominated occupations which are in shortage in Australia.
This work visa may be applied for inside or outside Australia; however, applicants must be outside Australia at the time the visa is granted.
Am I eligible for a Skilled Independent Visa?
- I am under the age of 45 years of age;
- I have qualifications in a skilled occupation;
- I have a positive skills assessment for my nominated skilled occupation;
- I meet threshold English requirements;
- I have worked for 12 of the 24 months immediately before lodging my visa application in my nominated occupation or an occupation closely related to my nominated occupation OR I have studied in Australia for at least two academic years in the last 6 months;
- I meet the health and character requirements.
